Someone on my street decided to light some more fireworks.

Well, shit, I am sorry, I didn’t know there was context there.

I’m sorry about your dad. FWIW, I also don’t like when neighbors just rip off some bombs in their back yards unannounced. Out of context, and with no warning, it’s not fun. It’s jarring. For me, it’s just a minor annoyance, but for many, it can freak them out (not to mention their animals or babies).

We had fireworks being lit on our street (and neighboring streets) until about 11:30 last night.
Technically most fireworks are illegal in Madison but totally legal in the neighboring suburbs like Fitchburg, so there are fireworks tents in Fitchburg every year where people in Madison go and load up on the real stuff instead of whatever crappy Madison-legal fireworks are available at Walmart.
So of course one of my neighbors decided to set up a goddamn full on several-hours-long fireworks display in the cul de sac out my back window. At first I was like, “hey, some of these are pretty cool” but it quickly grew tiring.
I briefly considered options which included menacing them with my vaguely tactical-looking knife I use for breaking down all the cardboard boxes we get from shopping online, or calling the cops, but decided to just go to bed.
Because I am not a violent person.

We had fireworks going on until past midnight. I would occasionally see bright flashes and feel thunderous booms in my bedroom. My cat really wanted to be near me that night.
